Landing Page Strategy for LinkedIn Ads

Landing pages are the other half of ad performance. A great ad sending traffic to a bad page wastes budget. Each funnel stage and awareness level needs a different landing page approach.

Landing Pages by Awareness Stage

Problem-Aware (TOF traffic)

These visitors are early - they're exploring a pain, not shopping for a product.

Page direction:

  • Problem validation and user empathy - show you understand their world
  • Outcome-focused testimonials or stories (not product features)
  • Introductory brand messaging - build familiarity, not hard sell
  • Before/After transformation visuals - "this is your life now vs what it could be"

Where to send them: Homepage or content hub. NOT a demo page.

Solution-Aware (MOF traffic)

These visitors know what they need. They're comparing options.

Page direction:

  • Value proposition clarity: strong headline + benefit + visual
  • ROI snapshots or short case studies
  • Key differentiators vs competitors (comparison tables work well here)
  • Easy ways to get started: "Try free," "Book demo," "See it live"
  • Optional: feature checklist, integration matrix

Where to send them: Solution pages, comparison pages, feature-specific landing pages.

Product-Aware (BOF traffic)

These visitors are close to deciding. They need reassurance and a push.

Page direction:

  • Specific benefits for their persona/industry
  • Strong social proof: testimonials, results, recognizable client logos
  • Product visuals or interactive tours
  • Time-based incentive or limited offers
  • Final reassurance: support quality, security certifications, outcome guarantees

Where to send them: Dedicated demo page or free trial page. Low friction.

Landing Page Best Practices

Structural rules:

  • CTA on the landing page must match the CTA on the ad
  • Landing page must be relevant to the ad copy and creative
  • Each campaign type should ideally have its own landing page
  • At minimum, have 2 pages per campaign: one for prospecting, one for retargeting

Competitor-focused pages:

  • Build comparison landing pages for Solution-Aware audiences
  • Include comparison tables, feature checklists
  • Add customer testimonials specifically from switchers - "Why [Company] moved from [Competitor] to us"
  • Embed customer video reviews if available

Retargeting-specific pages:

  • Display USPs and social proof prominently
  • Show customer logos and specific results
  • Make the CTA frictionless - pre-filled forms, short Lead Gen Forms
  • Personalize by industry or use case if possible

Lead Gen Form Optimization

LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms bypass the landing page entirely. When to use them:

Best for:

  • BOF campaigns targeting warm audiences
  • When the main friction is "leaving LinkedIn" (users stay on-platform)
  • When your landing page conversion rate is below 5%

Form design rules:

  • Keep to 3-5 fields maximum
  • Use LinkedIn auto-fill fields (name, email, job title, company) - reduces friction
  • Custom questions should be minimal - one qualifying question at most
  • Thank-you message should set expectations: "We'll reach out within 24 hours"
  • Document ads + Lead Gen Forms for demo page visitors can meaningfully lift the demo-to-close rate

When NOT to use Lead Gen Forms:

  • When lead quality is the problem (forms can generate low-intent leads)
  • When you need deeper qualification (use website forms with more fields instead)
  • When the landing page experience IS the selling point (demos, free tools, interactive content)
