title: Brief rubric description: A self-scoring rubric for a finished role brief, used before the brief is posted for approval.
Brief rubric
Score the brief before posting it. Each criterion scores 0, 1 or 2. A brief scoring under 14 of 20, or with any zero on criteria 1, 3 or 9, goes back to the intake.
| # | Criterion | 0 | 1 | 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Outcomes | Skills or duties only | Outcomes without numbers | Three twelve-month outcomes with numbers |
| 2 | Why now | Missing | Generic ("growth") | A specific driver and, for a backfill, why the last person left |
| 3 | Must-haves | More than three, or untested | Three, but one fails the substitution test | Three, each survives the substitution test |
| 4 | Accepted weaknesses | Missing | Named vaguely | Named specifically |
| 5 | Profile line | Logo or title only | Partial motion detail | Price point, stage and self-sourced share or equivalent |
| 6 | Pay | Missing or "competitive" | Figures without source or split | Base, OTE, split and equity with a named source and the gap stated |
| 7 | Pitch | Missing or generic | Describes the job | Two sentences in the manager's words a good candidate would answer |
| 8 | Process contract | Missing | Stages only | Owners, feedback limits, work sample owner, submission route |
| 9 | Sign-off | One person | Some stakeholders | Everyone who can say no agreed the same version |
| 10 | Flags | Not run | Run, no fixes | Every flag has a severity and a fix, and every overruled blocking flag has a dated tripwire |
Always check also: no requirement acts as a proxy for a protected attribute.
